Q1)- What type of release should you use on an RPO slant route? (Can be more than 1 answer specifically- I’m looking for a type of release)- think generally
Q2)- How would you run a 5yd out vs outside shade catch technique man coverage?
Q3)- What kind of ball from the QB can you expect as a slot WR when you’re running a corner route vs. Cover 2?
Answers will be located at the bottom
A1)- Slower releases like a slide or hesi move. Reason we use a slower release is so it times up with the QBs footwork. If it is an RPO slant that takes longer to develop than a quick game slant.
A2)- Attack the DBs inside shoulder and sell vertical- get him to flip his hips to the fade- throw by and slip underneath him. If you are on the goaline- you would attack his inside shoulder and hip until 5yds then use some kind of move like a cross over or rocker step.
A3)-Ball will be thrown on a line and bring you downhill. Almost like an out route. The corner will not be thrown with air because In Cover 2, there are 2 high safeties. So if they throw it with air, the safety has a chance to make a play.
