What It Really Means To Work

Hard work is one of the most important things in life. I am a firm believer that if you work hard and have faith it will pay off, you will be successful. But what really is the hard work you need to be doing?

Your craft needs to be your every waking moment. It should never leave your mind. You have to love it before you can work your face off everyday. Because at the end of the day, this has to be something you are passionate about. You have to love the grind. If you can’t stand going to the gym or hitting the field you are in the wrong game. You need to embrace the suck. Love the hard stuff, it is going to make you better.

Now the true greats, do not care about conditions or circumstances. They are tired... they don’t complain they just work. The weather is poor... they still work. The field is crappy... they still work. They don’t complain. They give the game the respect it deserves. Success doesn’t have time for complaints. If you are waiting for perfect conditions and circumstances to work, you will never get any better.

Lastly the greats can work forever. They never want to come off the field. They will be out there everyday for 3 hours plus. Now you obviously need rest but they understand that the work will pay off. You never hear stories about a guy who worked constantly and failed. You hear stories about guys who could have done more that failed. The work you put in leads to success. Nothing more nothing less. You can’t be afraid of the grind. If you don’t respect the grind you will find yourself on the sideline.
