Below we will be discussing what you can do if you are losing motivation to train and practice for football. This is actually a common question we get asked from a lot of athletes so I wanted to write this to help in any way possible and share some experiences I had.
Also, in 2025 we are coming out to 15 more cities for QB/WR skill camps! We will be coming to SAN FRANCISCO CA, ORLANDO FL, PHOENIX AZ, CHARLOTTE NC, AUSTIN TX, CHICAGO IL, SEATTLE WA, LAS VEGAS NV, NEWARK NJ, BIRMINGHAM AL, HOUSTON TX, BOSTON MA, COLUMBUS OH, BOISE IDAHO & LOS ANGELES CA Checkout the link below to sign up ⬇️⬇️
So if you’re reading this you might be a little discouraged about your current situation in football. Maybe you didn’t get as much play time last season as you’d like, maybe you aren’t seeing any progress etc. Whatever the situation is, I’m going to tell you right now, please don’t quit. You will regret it. I remember my junior year of high school, I didn’t get as much play time as I would like. I was competing with another kid whose dad was the athletic director for the high school I attended. He hired the coach we currently had- it was his first year. The athletic director got a little drunk at a bar one night where my dad was with a few of his friends and he didn’t know my dad was there. He bragged about how the only reason the coach got the job is because he agreed to play his son. Talk about “politics”. So of course I hear this info, my dad didn’t want to tell me but he did. I was pissed. Extremely upset, extremely discouraged and I wanted to quit. Because I felt I was clearly better and I wasn’t getting a fair shake. Luckily I had a great support system and parents who talked me off the ledge and I remember after that situation, that was probably the hardest I’ve ever worked at anything. Once I got my chance I was going to roll with it and never look back. I eventually got a chance to play, played very well and the rest was kind of history in high school. I was able to achieve multiple scholarship offers my senior year which was always my goal and I think the satisfaction was so much better knowing what I had been through. You learn a lot about yourself when battling through adversity like that.
So the reason I tell you all of this is because I know what you’re going through. Do not quit. If I quit back then, I wouldn’t be writing this article. You wouldn’t be following me on social media etc. You just have to figure out why you started playing football in the first place and chip away at that goal everyday. A lot of you get discouraged because you set these big goals for yourself (which is good) but you get upset when you don’t achieve them tomorrow. Success is never ending. Everyday you need to get 1% better and stack those days on top of each other. You do that for a month and you are 30% better. Just keep chipping away and take things day by day. Who cares what other people think, what other people say and how other people act. What matters is what you truly want to do with this game of football. Keep that in mind & chase that goal everyday. Don’t think about tomorrow or a week from now. Take it day by day and continue to improve your skills/the many other aspects of your game. I promise you, when you start stacking good days on top of each other- that motivation will come back. And that motivation you gain, will be stronger than what you had before.
