This is a common question that I get asked from athletes. They will ask me if a camp invite is “legit” or “real”.So there are two ways coaches generally invite players to camps. Via email or via Twitter DM. If it’s via email and there is an option to “unsubscribe” from their email… it is spam. They sent it to literally thousands of other players. That’s not a real invite. Listen, you can go if you’d like… but it’s not a special invitation just for you. You could’ve signed up for the camp without an invite. Colleges do this to increase the amount of sign ups for your camp, and chances are they got your email from some recruiting service that you signed up for. It still can be good if you perform well, but just know it’s not an actual invite. Now on Twitter, the general rule of thumb is that if you have never communicated with the coach and he just sends you a random message… it’s probably not real. He sent the same message to thousands of other people. If you have been actively communicating with a coach and he invites you, then it could potentially be real.But a real camp offer guys, generally is a free invitation. You will not have to pay a camp fee. So also keep that in mind. I’ve never been invited to a party I had to pay for. I write this just so athletes are aware and don’t expect certain treatment when going to certain camps. Camps are great to go to, but you just need to know this going in.
