How To Make A Perfect Highlight Tape

Grant Caraway

Below we will be discussing how you can make a perfect hudl highlight tape. Your highlight tape is what gets you recruited so it’s important that you make one which will stand out to coaches and look professional. I hope this can help!

Also, in 2025 we are coming out to 9 more cities for QB/WR skill camps! We will be coming to CHICAGO IL, SEATTLE WA, LAS VEGAS NV, NEWARK NJ, BIRMINGHAM AL, HOUSTON TX, BOSTON MA, COLUMBUS OH, BOISE IDAHO & LOS ANGELES CA Checkout the link below to sign up ⬇️⬇️

Cover Page:This is the first part of your highlight tape. It’s before your plays start, it’s essentially an info page. It should include the following:

Name

Graduating Class & Position

School You Attend/State

Contact Info

Length: Your highlight tape should be 1-3 minutes long. Longer is not better. Coaches have very limited time and will not watch more than probably 5-12 plays depending on how interested they are.

First Play: First play is your absolute best play of the year. Period. Doesn’t matter what side of the ball it’s on even if it’s not your main position.

Highlighting Yourself: Highlight yourself before each play unless you play QB. If you’re a QB, coaches know where to look.

Music: Keep it professional. It should be instrumental only. You don’t want lyrics to give the coach a bad first impression of you.

If you follow this formula, you will have a highlight tape that is easy to watch and analyze for a college coach.
