How To BEAT OUT THE COACHES SON

Below we will be discussing how you can beat out the coaches son. This is a common question that we get asked so I wanted to address it with an article. If you are the coaches son, this is not meant to discourage you. Those players tend to work a lot harder than everyone else. I’m a firm believer not every situation is political- so that’s what I am going to discuss below.

Also, in 2025 we are coming out to 15 more cities for QB/WR skill camps! We will be coming to SAN FRANCISCO CA, ORLANDO FL, PHOENIX AZ, CHARLOTTE NC, AUSTIN TX, CHICAGO IL, SEATTLE WA, LAS VEGAS NV, NEWARK NJ, BIRMINGHAM AL, HOUSTON TX, BOSTON MA, COLUMBUS OH, BOISE IDAHO & LOS ANGELES CA Checkout the link below to sign up ⬇️⬇️

So I’m sure some situations are political. “My son is the QB no exceptions and I am the head coach” type of situations. And those are bad ones to be in. Let’s say you’re a QB who has to deal with that, I recommend getting out of that situation. The other kid might be really good and maybe he’s even better than you, but at the end of the day if you don’t see yourself playing… why are you there? If your goal is to develop, you need game reps to do it. So if there is an option to go elsewhere and play.. I suggest you do it. Now some people are stuck in this situation. What can you do? Honestly, I recommend just competing like hell. At the end of the day, football is shaping people for life. Not everyone will go to the NFL. Some will. Not everyone will go to college, some will. But football teaches life lessons. And if you can learn to stand 10 toes down and compete at a young age and battle adversity when you have no other options,  you will be so much better off long term. This is again, if you don’t have the option to go to another team. Make it your mission to make it so obvious that you are the better option at a position that the coach has to at least give you a shot. Especially if you’re in youth ball. Focus on developing your skills, getting better each day and consistently elevating your play. In high school, chances are, you will be in a much more fair situation.

Now, for the coaches kids out there who have to earn everything- you don’t fall into this discussion. I have met and trained so many coaches kids. And they are generally some of the hardest working people I know. Because their parents are hard on them and teach them that if they are going to be coaching, you are going to be the example of what to do. Also, they make sure their kid does extra work and is one of the best so nobody can make the “coaches son” excuse. Because plenty of people will make that excuse.
