Today we will be discussing how far you should throw based on your age. I hope this can help!
ALSO, if you are a QB who would like a weekly workout schedule to follow this summer- checkout the link below! We map out a daily GYM & ON FIELD workout plan for you (Monday-Sunday). We give the exact sets & reps to do and a video example of each drill/exercise. Check it out here! ⬇️⬇️
Ages 9-10: 20-25yds (honestly at this age I don’t even throw deep with my QBs. I don’t see the point. They haven’t hit puberty yet, likely don’t have an offensive line to throw deep and it’s insanely rare they can throw it more than 20yds. Working deep passes over and over again will only increase bad habits. Young guys at this age usually just simply don’t have the strength yet to drive the ball. Mechanics should be the primary focus at this age)
Ages 11-12: 30yds
Ages 13-14: 35-40yds (should be with a high school sized ball)
Ages 15-16: 40-50yds
Ages 16+: 55yds
At the end of the day, throw distance isn’t the most important aspect of a QBs game. Can you ACCURATELY deliver the ball with great timing and anticipation? And if so, that’s what they want to see at the next level. A strong arm can help, but there is a lot more to the position.
