Below we will be discussing the average height & weight for middle school QBs. This is a common question we get asked, so I wanted to write an article on it to give some insight. I hope this is able to help.
Also, in 2025 we are coming out to 15 more cities for QB/WR skill camps! We will be coming to SAN FRANCISCO CA, ORLANDO FL, PHOENIX AZ, CHARLOTTE NC, AUSTIN TX, CHICAGO IL, SEATTLE WA, LAS VEGAS NV, NEWARK NJ, BIRMINGHAM AL, HOUSTON TX, BOSTON MA, COLUMBUS OH, BOISE IDAHO & LOS ANGELES CA Checkout the link below to sign up ⬇️⬇️
So, first things first, I want to say that your weight as a middle school QB (grades 6th-8th) doesn’t matter. It’s likely you’re done developing and most of you probably haven’t started seriously lifting weights yet. I’d say you’d want to be around 130-140lbs by your freshman year of high school. But obviously an athletic 130-140. But I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Below, I am going to list a chart with the average heights for each grade.
6th- 5’4
7th- 5’6
8th- 5’9
No I don’t write this to discourage anybody. QB is one of those positions where height can absolutely help you, but it’s not the be all end all. You need to ACTUALLY BE A GOOD QB. Your height can’t help you throw the ball. So if you are deemed “below average” from this chart above; then just know there are a few things you need to work on. Work on your pocket footwork so you can move and create throwing windows for yourself. You won’t be able to see over linemen. Work on your quick release. And also, work on your arm strength/accuracy. Those would be the main areas I’d emphasize as a shorter QB
