Below we will be discussing the average height for freshman players. I hope this can help you!

We are going to go through position by position and tell you what the average height should be for a freshman in high school. But we will also discuss below what each position should work on if you are undersized.



QB- 5’9


If you’re undersized work on your speed, quick release & ability to extend the play. (Throw on the run etc.)


WR/DB- 5’8


If you’re undersized work on your speed, technique and quickness. Also your catching.



RB-5’8


Undersized, work on your speed and lateral agility. Also need to have some size to absorb hits.


LB-5’10


Undersized, you just have great lateral agility and tackling skills.


OL/DL-6’1


Undersized, you must have great technique and speed also as a defensive lineman


TE-6’0


Undersized, you just have great Route running, run blocking and hands.
